Nehanda Design is a purpose-driven South African design studio founded by industrial designer Nehanda Magan in 2019. What began with a simple request to handcraft a bespoke nursery mobile quickly grew into a meaningful brand celebrating nature, heritage, and mindful creativity.  Nehanda studied Industrial Design, gaining expertise in product design, 3D CAD, illustration, and graphic design skills she later wove into her handcrafted mobiles. Her first mobiles were made from a heartfelt desire to create heirloom-quality keepsakes that inspire curiosity, storytelling, and early childhood development.  At the heart of Nehanda Design is a deep appreciation for the African landscape and its wildlife. Each piece is handcrafted with care, celebrating the continent’s biodiversity while fostering connection and imagination for families.  Community impact is central to the brand. Nehanda collaborates with skilled local artisans, including her in-house team and women from the Cape Town sewing cooperative Rise 5, creating meaningful employment and income opportunities.
